The West Tisbury library presents a book talk with local author Eileen Maley on Thursday, Nov. 8, at 4:30 pm. Maley will discuss her newly released memoir, “No Fixed Address: How to Run Away from It All.” Her talk will include maps, props, readings, and humor. Learn about Maley’s real-life adventure, including snakes, a plane crash, a war, and two recipes (both of which require a hole dug in the ground). “No Fixed Address” is a love story and a Vineyard story, and according to the library’s press release, it might just make you laugh.
Maley was a journalist in Canada before chucking it all to sail to Australia and beyond. En route she met Timothy Maley, and after a stint in Sydney, the two of them struck out to see the wider world. They ended up in West Tisbury in 1974, where they stayed and became part of the community. Maley was features editor of the Martha’s Vineyard Times in the 1980s, and wrote for the Vineyard Gazette before and afterward.
Refreshments will be served. This event is free and open to the public.
