Danish wind energy giant Orsted completed its takeover of Deepwater Wind this week. The new entity will be called Orsted US Offshore Wind. The buy-up of Deepwater Wind for $510 million will not affect other Orsted American enterprises, according to spokesman Lauren Burm.
“Nothing happens with Orsted’s current projects,” she said.
Baystate Wind, a joint Massachusetts venture between Orsted and Eversource, and Ocean Wind, a New Jersey venture, are large Orsted wind enterprises on the East Coast.
Orsted US Offshore Wind plans to retain all Deepwater wind employees, Burm said.
The Deepwater Wind deal makes Orstead the biggest player in offshore wind in the U.S., she said.
