SSA cancels early morning ferries

With a nor'easter bearing down on the region, the Steamship Authority has issued a travel alert.

The Steamship Authority has canceled several early morning ferries as the region is feeling the effects of a nor’easter. The following trips have been canceled:

M/V WOODS HOLE 5:30AM Vineyard Haven to Woods Hole

M/V MARTHA’S VINEYARD 6:00AM Vineyard Haven to Woods Hole

M/V ISLAND HOME 6:00AM Woods Hole to Vineyard Haven

M/V WOODS HOLE 6:30AM Woods Hole to Vineyard Haven

M/V MARTHA’S VINEYARD 7:00AM Woods Hole to Vineyard Haven

M/V ISLAND HOME 7:00AM Vineyard Haven to Woods Hole

The 8:15 am Woods Hole to Vineyard Haven ferry is loading up for its scheduled crossing.

According to MEMA, there is a wind advisory that’s been issued for Dukes County between 12 midnight and 12 noon Friday with gusts expected to reach near 50 mph.

As a result, the Steamship Authority issued a travel alert for Friday saying “travel on both the Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket routes are likely to be affected.”

The Steamship Authority advises customers traveling on both the Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket routes to check the Authority’s website for further updates.
