Tis’ the season of giving, and we heard the community wants to make it easier to get involved. We rounded up a couple ways you can lend a hand to your neighbors and friends over the upcoming weeks.
First, the Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Holiday Food Drive through Dec. 19. The Chamber is accepting food donations at their office in Vineyard Haven, as well as online donations at mvy.com. There will also be a Holiday Giving Tree, which includes different options at various monetary levels.
“Food uncertainty is a year-round nightmare for many Islanders,” said Nancy Gardella, executive director of the Chamber. “For nearly a decade, the Chamber and its member businesses have joined together on this food drive. We hope that this year will be our strongest yet, so that all Islanders can enjoy this special season without having to worry about their next meal.”

Another way to give back this holiday season is joining the Martha’s Vineyard Nonprofit Collaborative. They recently launched a new website, and they’re expanding their reach to support and advocate for Island nonprofits. On the website, you’ll find a directory of Island nonprofits listing 157 Island organizations where you can make a difference. On the website, you can browse initiatives and find out more.
