The Tisbury Police Department will be holding a Citizens’ Police Academy on April 4, 11, and 25, and May 2, and 9, according to a press release issued by Police Chief Mark Saloio.
Tisbury Police Department staff, with assistance from other Island public safety agencies, will provide a quality training and orientation experience for residents of the Island community. Residents are encouraged to sign up for this no-charge program to learn more about the work members of the Tisbury Police Department perform each day.
The class, organized and scheduled by Det. Max Sherman, will teach residents various aspects of criminal, constitutional, and motor vehicle laws, as well as familiarize participants with some of the policies, responsibilities, and obligations of police department members within their community. It is open to residents 18 years or older. Class participants will also be provided an opportunity to take part in a police ride-along as part of the program.
Any resident wishing to participate in this program should contact Sherman at 508-696-4240 or msherman@tisburyma.gov. This class is open to residents of all Island communities on a first come, first served basis.
