The Martha’s Vineyard Museum has opened nominations for the Vineyard Medal.
The award was introduced in 2009, and has been awarded annually to community leaders to highlight their “outstanding commitment to preserving the history, arts, and culture of Martha’s Vineyard,” according to a press release from the museum.
The award criteria look for leadership in areas like historic preservation, fine and performing arts, literature, community activism, and education.
Nominations should include the name and brief description of why the person is deserving of the award, limited to 500 words. Previous nominations of people who did not receive an award are still valid, and will be considered again this year, but nominations can be resubmitted if an individual has made additional contributions to the Island.
Nominations are due March 31, and should be submitted to museum operations director Katy Fuller at firstname.lastname@example.org.
