Jeremy Alley-Tarter and Catherine Cherry tops in St. Paddy’s Dayish 5K

Former MVRHS track standout Jeremy Alley-Tarter of Oak Bluffs was the men’s and overall winner in the 21st annual St. Patrick’s Dayish Road Race, held Sunday morning in the Cottage City. Alley-Tarter ran the East Chop course in 18:31. Catherine Cherry of Edgartown, one of many current MVRHS track athletes in the field of 82 runners, was the women’s champ, clocking in at 21:40 to finish 12th overall. The event benefits the high school track and field and cross-country boosters.

Owen Porterfield of Vineyard Haven took second place overall, with a time of 18:33.36. Rounding out the top 10 were 3. Borja Tolay, Edgartown, 18:33.91; 4. Zachary Utz, Vineyard Haven, 18:43; 5. Owen Atkins, Oak Bluffs, 19:39; 6. Flavius Petre, Edgartown, 19:50; 7. Tom Sykes, Vineyard Haven, 20:23; 8. Jonathan Norton, Vineyard Haven, 20:56; 9. Duncan Brown, Vineyard Haven, 21:13; and 10. David Bonneau, Vineyard Haven, 21:19.
