Swimmer, instructor, and coach Jennifer Passafiume was recently honored at the Eastern Massachusetts InterScholastic Coaches Association (EMISCA) banquet on Sunday, April 7, in Natick. Passafiume was presented with the Winter Girls Swimming Assistant Coach of

the Year award for her dedication to assisting the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School swim team. In just her first year of assistant-coaching the girls team, both the boys and girls teams achieved their first-ever winning dual meet record — the highest ever individual finishes at the conference, sectional and state meets (Gabby Carr), and the second straight year that the girls qualified both freestyle relays for the state meet (Yayla DeChiara, Eleanor Hyland, Annabelle Brothers, Jasselle Wildanger, and Gabby Carr).

Passafiume, who also works at the YMCA of Martha’s Vineyard, is certified by the U.S. Masters Swimming program to instruct all age groups in the pool, and is a certified personal trainer. She teaches aqua high-intensity interval training (HIIT), and works with swimmers with special needs and physical challenges.
