On Thursday, May 9, the Oak Bluffs planning board will be holding a meeting to accept the Eversource application for a massive energy storage system to be located at 208 Edgartown–Vineyard Haven Road.
Eversource will be making a presentation on its plans for the battery and energy storage-system facility. The proposed 6,000-square-foot facility will hold a 14.7 megawatt battery.
The batteries are meant to offset the burden on Eversource backup generators in the event any of the four submarine cables feeding the Vineyard should fail.
The meeting will be held at 5 pm at the Oak Bluffs public library meeting room.
