The White House welcomed Dukes County commissioner Keith Chatinover Tuesday for the third of 10 regional State Leadership Days initiative event.

Chatinover was joined by local elected officials from New England, New Jersey, New York, and Delaware. The meetings are designed for county commissioners and supervisors. Larry Kudlow, director of the U.S. National Economic Council, and Wilbur Ross, the secretary of commerce, addressed the local officials.

The meeting’s briefings and discussion with administration officials were on shared federal, state, and local priorities pertinent to each state.

“It was very nice of the administration to visit, but I was hoping for a more collaborative conversation. Most of the speakers were just lauding the tax cut, and not really talking about federal local partnership,” Chatinover said. “Ross didn’t answer questions, but I wanted to have him speak about the census, and how the citizenship question is detrimental to local efforts that I’m spearheading as the head of the Dukes County complete count committee to make sure that we have everyone take the census.”
