Looking to cool off this week? Head to the Martha’s Vineyard Ice Arena, which has been and continues to be the go-to venue for ice skate–related activity.
Hockey camps for Island and regional players from 6-16 abound, as well as performance skating camps, public skating, birthday parties, and high school hockey camps. Most camps are skill-based teaching programs.
Last week, for example, a trio of partners, the Boston College Eagles, the Boston Bruins, and former NHLer Jeff Serowik’s Pro Ambitions camps, offered a three-part set of two-day drills for goaltenders, defensemen, and teaching defense to offensive players (forwards). MV Times sports maven and photographer Ralph Stewart caught the action.
And it ain’t over yet. Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School (MVRHS) captain’s practices, more youth hockey clinics, and sacks of public skating opportunities will keep the Zamboni busy through Labor Day.
