On Saturday, Nov. 9 at 3:30 pm, Dan Waters will present “Capturing the Moment” at the West Tisbury library. According to a press release, using traditional photographic film, Dan Waters has spent the past year and a half capturing everyday life on Martha’s Vineyard for a “time capsule,” to be preserved in the M.V. Museum archives. A selection of his photos are currently on display in the museum’s exhibit “Face Value.” Waters will share his images, insights, and challenges in this talk that raises questions about our daily choices, things we take for granted, and how we’ll look from the viewpoint of future generations. Refreshments will be served. This event is free and open to the public.

Dan Waters was born in New Jersey, raised in Brazil, and moved to Martha’s Vineyard in 1977. He has a bachelor’s degree in English from Wesleyan University, and a black belt in aikido, a Japanese martial art. He’s been a shoe salesman, a printer, a fundraiser, and a musician. He was West Tisbury’s first poet laureate, and is currently the town moderator. He has been a photographer all his life.
