O.B. light is right at night

Oak Bluffs set the tone for the holiday season with its annual Post Office Square tree lighting Wednesday night.

Christmas tunes were heard from members of the Vineyard Haven Brass Band on Circuit Avenue, hot chocolate was served in little cups with candy canes, and reindeer antler headbands were passed out. Employees at Basics Clothing Co. dressed like elves and opened their doors for people to walk through.

The tree was lit by Gabby Preston, 9, the winner of the tree-lighting poster art contest at the Oak Bluffs School, with some help from board of selectmen chair Brian Packish.
