The Sheriff’s Meadow Foundation is pursuing renewal of accreditation through the land trust accreditation program, according to a press release. Sheriff’s Meadow Foundation is the local land trust for the Island. The foundation’s mission is to conserve the natural, beautiful, rural landscape, and character of Martha’s Vineyard for present and future generations.

The Land Trust Accreditation Commission will review the application submitted by Sheriff’s Meadow and conduct an extensive evaluation on the policies and programs of the foundation.

“Re-accreditation is important to the Sheriff’s Meadow Foundation because it requires us to meet the highest standards, and because it will independently certify that we are meeting those standards,” the release states.

The accreditation commission will accept signed written statements of public input, and welcomes questions about the re-accreditation process.
