The Steamship Authority is seeking original artwork “inspired by Steamship Authority ferries” from local students in kindergarten through grade 12.
“Thirteen prize winners will be selected, and the winning artwork will be showcased in a 2021 calendar, as well as displayed on the SSA’s website and exhibited on board SSA ferries,” a release states.
The contest is open to kids from Barnstable, Fairhaven, Falmouth, Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket, and New Bedford.
“It’s a joy seeing our ferries and ports through the eyes of these young artists,” SSA director of marketing Kimberlee McHugh said through the release. “The calendar and artwork onboard the ferries have become something our passengers and employees look forward to seeing year after year.”
In addition to being showcased in the calendar, contest winners will receive $100 SSA gift cards and invitations to an unveiling reception.
“All entrants, regardless of whether they are chosen for the calendar, will also be entered to win a grand prize of a Go Boston Explorer Pass for a family of four,” the release states.
Students can submit entries online, through the mail, or by hand-delivering submissions at Steamship Authority terminals. Submissions must be received no later than April 30. The U.S. Mail address for the contest is: Steamship Authority Marketing Department, 509 Falmouth Road, Suite 1C, Mashpee, MA 02649.
Contest winners will be announced via the SSA website in late June.
