Freemasons host an open house this weekend

The Oriental Martha’s Vineyard Lodge, 52 Edgartown Vineyard Haven Rd. in Oak Bluffs, will host an open house on Saturday, Oct. 24, from 10 am until 2 pm. The Freemasons of Massachusetts invite the public to view the Lodge room, ask questions about who they are and the work they do. There is a rich Masonic history on Martha’s Vineyard — many whaling ship captains were Freemasons, and Paul Revere was the first proxy to the Grand Lodge in Boston.

If you have a relative with a Masonic past, you might help them to identify some of their Past Masters. The lodge has portraits dating back more than 200 years.

Common sense protocols for public gatherings will apply. For more information, visit or email
