Library hosts reusable bag sewing circle

Chilmark library. — Mae Deary

One million plastic bags are being used every minute, and 10.46 million tons of fabric waste are created each year, according to a press release from the Chilmark library. On Tuesday, Nov. 3, at 5 pm, join the library for Vineyard Bags: Join the Circle and Help Close It.

By joining the library’s sewing/community/friend circle, you can make bags, divert waste, start conversations, connect with each other, foster sustainable behavior, and have fun. Contribute unused fabric, time, or ideas to the library’s project. Reusable bags will be distributed for free at Cronig’s Market and other Island venues.
