55Plus: Tisbury Council on Aging – December 2020

0

The Tisbury Council on Aging continues to do outreach to keep in touch with our seniors. We had hoped to open the center to our smaller groups (knitting, painting, poetry reading, wellness clinic, etc.) but because of the rising cases of COVID, it was advised not to reopen until after the first of the year.

We are looking for volunteers to deliver Christmas dinners. Call Joyce at the Council on Aging if you are interested. If anyone would like a Christmas dinner, call the Council on Aging by Dec. 18.

The SHINE counselor is available over the phone to assist with updating your secondary insurance to Medicare during Open Enrollment, which ends Dec. 7. Call the senior center for information on how to connect with your local SHINE counselor.

A new service has started at the center. Arthur Bergeron from Mirick O’Connell, who gives legal clinics at the center, will be available by appointment on Dec. 17 to provide legal advice and answer your more personalized questions. Call 508-696-4205 to make an appointment. He will be at the center monthly. Arthur has done the first of his presentations that he was giving at the Tisbury Senior Center on MVTV, so watch for details.

We are going to be giving out bags to seniors who are isolated and do not get out. This is our way of reaching out to our seniors.

We are taking fuel assistance applications. For information or to apply, call Joyce at 508-696-4205.

We are here to assist anyone in obtaining services, and Audrey, our elder companion, does still help with shopping and errands. Audrey continues to keep in touch with her clients even though she can’t come into the home.

Please give us a call if you need any information, or have any need that we can help you with. Stay safe.
