Borrow a Chromebook from the Vineyard Haven library

Vineyard Haven library. — Kyra Steck

The Vineyard Haven library is now loaning out Chromebooks to patrons for one-week periods. These are web-based laptops that enable users to create documents using your own Google Suite/Gmail account. Users can also browse the internet without a Gmail account or access webmail through other internet service providers. An internet connection is needed in order to use a Chromebook; if you do not have one, you may want to also borrow a wifi hotspot from the library.

Chromebook borrowers must be 18 or older or have a parent or guardian borrow one on his or her behalf with a library card in good standing. There is a user agreement that requires a signature as well, which guarantees the borrower assumes responsibility for the device. If you aren’t familiar with using the laptop, the library can give you a lesson on the basics.
