The Martha’s Vineyard Garden Club recently announced that they will host the Blooming Art show this year at the Old Mill in West Tisbury. Beginning on Friday, June 18, and continuing through Sunday, June 20, this celebration of fine art and floral design is the Garden Club’s major fundraiser of the year and is a favorite annual summer event. This year, the work of 34 Vineyard artists will be paired with a floral design that was inspired by that work, and created by one or more of the Garden Club members. All artwork will be for sale, with a percentage going to the Garden Club.
In past years, the Blooming Art event began with an opening night cocktail celebration, but due to the uncertainty COVID-19 presented, the opening night event will not take place this year. Instead, this celebration of art and flowers will begin on Friday, June 18, and will be open to the public on Friday and Saturday from 10 am until 6 pm, and on Sunday from 10 am until 3 pm. This event will be COVID compliant, according to a press release from the Garden Club, based on state and town regulations in place at the time of the show. No pre-registration is necessary, and an admission fee of $10 will be taken at the door.
Participating artists include Marston Clough, Angela Egerton, Margaret Emerson, Valentine Estabrook, Sheila M. Fane, Robin Ledoux Forte, Joann Frechette, Roberta Gross, Jay Lagemann, Chetta Kelley, Nancy Kilson, Washington Ledesma, Kanta Lipsky, Marjorie Mason, Marianne Neill, Alida O’Loughlin, Heidi Lang Parrinello, Kathy Poehler, Debby Rosenthal, Claire Schalfoun, Judith Drew Schubert, Elizabeth Schule, Ed Schulman, Rosalie Shane, Alison Shaw, Taylor Stone, Virginia Stone, Donna Straw, Elizabeth Lockhart Taft, Katy Upson, Vineyard Colors, Wendy Weldon, Frances Werthwein, and Maureen Williams.
