Services Thursday for Marianne Morelli

Marianne (Daly) Morelli, aged 75, originally from Holbrook, passed away on Friday, June 18, 2021, in the comfort of her home in Oak Bluffs, surrounded by her loving family. She joins her parents, George and Rita Daly, her sister Rita Ann Daly, and her youngest son Timothy Morelli in a better place.

Affectionately known as “Mini,” Marianne was a caring, selfless, warm-hearted mother of five. With her husband, Jerry Morelli, they raised George Morelli (Easton), Celia Gillis (Oak Bluffs), Steven Morelli (Braintree), Jerry Morelli (Williamsburg, Va.) and Timothy Morelli mainly in Holbrook, just steps from the home she grew up in. She loved gardening, reading, and the Red Sox. Family was always her top priority, and she spent virtually every minute trying to make their lives happy. She was a fantastic cook and tireless mom, juggling the schedules of five active kids and keeping them in line.

Mini made everyone feel comfortable and loved, and welcomed her children-in-law as her own: Jill Morelli (George), Peter Gillis (Celia), Lynai Morelli (Steven), and Carrie Morelli (Jerry). Marianne was the second of four sisters, and is survived by Celia Blakemore (New Bedford; husband William Blakemore) and Marjorie Tracy (Houston, Texas; husband Thomas Tracy).

She graduated from Archbishop Williams High School and received a degree in philosophy from Stonehill College. In addition to being an unparalleled homemaker, Marianne also made a career out of caring for people in various settings. Her jobs included early years at a nursing home, teaching special needs children, and caring for adults with intellectual disabilities. She was truly special in her ability and desire to help people who needed it. Mini was a constant worrier and apologizer. She never wanted anyone’s feelings to be hurt. Much too often, her sentences began with, “Sorry, I feel bad …” She just cared so much for everyone else that she literally could not help it.

Mini shined brightest as a loving grandmother to Peter, Marin, Matthew, Nicholas, Jordan, James, and Evynn. She had a special bond with each and every one, and could chat easily with them at all ages. She was always young at heart, and enjoyed playing their games and sharing ice cream, cotton candy, popcorn, and fun. Marianne, Mini, will be dearly missed.
