To the Editor:

I read about the passing of Maureen Healy on the evening before my 68th birthday. With apologies, I cannot do better than Trip Barnes’ assessment of Maureen’s passing: “I hate getting old.”

I was neighbor to Kent and Maureen for a number of years when I lived in West Tisbury, and I can honestly say I am not sure I will ever meet two nicer or finer people. I am saddened to learn of Maureen’s passing, and I can only offer my sincere condolences to Kent and the rest of the

Healy family. People like Maureen and Kent, who live life as they did and do, never really go anywhere. A huge part of them always remains on Martha’s Vineyard, in the soil, in the air, in the water, and in everyone’s hearts and minds who had the pleasure of knowing them. R.I.P. Maureen, in Paradise, in the garden, in the House of our Lord.
