The boys tennis MIAA Division 3 South Sectional final is set. No. 1 Martha’s Vineyard and No. 2 Dover-Sherborn, two undefeated teams whose seedings were determined by a coin flip, will meet on the Ned Fennessy courts in Oak Bluffs at 1:30 pm on Friday afternoon.

To get there, the Vineyarders passed their toughest test of the season to date. With first doubles tandem Teagan Myers and Clyde Smith closing out a pressure-packed 7-6 (8-6), 7-5 win over Nate Prickitt and Corey Lusty, the Purple earned the decisive point and edged fourth-seeded Sturgis West Charter School of Hyannis, 3-2, in the South semifinals, Thursday in Oak Bluffs.

As they have in all three playoff matches, Eric Reubens and Jacob Riis played superb, winning tennis in the first and second singles positions. Reubens beat Sturgis No. 1 Oliver Prantis 6-2, 6-2 and Riis defeated Mike Olson 6-0, 7-5. Sturgis took a point with a third singles forfeit and evened the match with a hard-fought win at second doubles after Colby Hall and Owen Ball overcame a tenacious effort from Ben Belisle and Jack Marshard 6-4, 7-5.
