Updated Dec. 24

School officials are planning community outreach regarding the high school building process after this holiday season with informational sessions that are open to the public.

The public gatherings will be held at Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School (MVRHS) beginning Jan. 8. The school building committee announced the plans in a press release on Tuesday. An informal example of the educational sessions was held in Aquinnah last month. The meeting sparked both controversy and support from residents of the up-Island town who attended.

“These sessions are open to community members, families, and stakeholders who want to learn more about the MVRHS building project and the planning process underway to create a modern, safe, and functional school facility,” the press release stated.

The sessions will be run by representatives from MVRHS, the building project team, and school building committee members. They plan to share updates and answer questions before an Island-wide vote on the funding aspect of the high school, which has been tentatively scheduled for June 2.

The full schedule for the informational sessions is as follows:

  • Thursday, Jan. 8, at 4:30 pm
