In a winter that had experienced a number of tragic losses in the Island community soon into the New Year, Martha’s Vineyard Hospital announced the joyous birth of Gael Palhares DeOliveira, the Vineyard’s first baby of 2026.
Gael was born to Taciana Dasilva and Eigon DeOliveira of Vineyard Haven on Monday, Jan. 13, at 5:15 am. Gael was born with a weight of 6 lbs and 2.2 oz.
“We welcome little Gael to our Island community,” the hospital wrote in a press release.
