Sandra L. Healy

Sandra L. Healy, of Dartmouth and formerly of Vineyard Haven, passed away unexpectedly on July 3, 2025, at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford. She was 84 years old.

For more than 47 years, Sandra owned, operated, and was the matriarch of John’s Fish Market. Sandra was known for her warm smile, strong work ethic, and commitment to providing homemade, high-quality food. She took great pride in her work, and was a beloved figure in the community, remembered not only for her food but also for her kindness and dedication.

Family traditions were especially important to Sandra. Her grandchildren fondly recall her famous Christmas-morning fried dough, and her homemade applesauce was a favorite as well — both made with love and joy. Christmastime was a particularly cherished season for her; she filled her yard with festive decorations, and invited others to enjoy them, simply to spread happiness.

A breast cancer survivor, Sandra was passionate about supporting others facing similar challenges. In earlier years, she spent winters in Florida, enjoying the sunshine and making lasting memories with friends. She also had a great love for travel, and especially treasured a trip to Italy, among other adventures.

Sandra will be remembered for her generous spirit, adventurous heart, and unwavering devotion to her family and community. Her legacy lives on through the many lives she has touched.

Sandra was a devoted mother to Glenn Pachico (Sheila) and Elexis Wildanger, and was predeceased by her children Bradford Pachico and Carla Furtaw. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Tyler and Mitchell Pachico, Caitlyn, Kyle, and Nathan Francis, Jasselle and Kyra Wildanger, D.J. and Anaquhs (Naki) Pachico, and Bradford and Baylee Furtaw. She also held a special place in her heart for her son-in-law, Steve Furtaw. Sandra deeply cherished her three great-grandchildren, Kingsley and Ryder Francis, and Sien Furtaw. She is survived by her sister, Judy Pachico, and her brothers, Tony (Jackie) and Ronald Ferreira (Nancy). She was predeceased by her father and mother, Richard Ferreira and Alice Ferreira (Sylvia), as well as siblings Delby and Richard Ferreira, and Norma White. Sandra also leaves behind her beloved dog, Cooper, with whom she shared a strong and comforting bond.

A celebration of her life will be held on July 26 at 10 am at the Chapman Funeral Home in Oak Bluffs, followed by burial at Oak Grove Cemetery in Vineyard Haven. A reception will follow at the Portuguese-American Club in Oak Bluffs.
