The Martha’s Vineyard Makos of the YMCA hosted a tri meet with the Sailfish of Scituate and Turbo Swim Team of Plymouth on Saturday. The two competitors previously swam with the South East Massachusetts Swim League, and have 65 swimmers between them, while the Makos have 19.

The Makos made a good showing, with 11 of the team’s 19 swimmers placing first in 22 events. The top swimmer of the day was Oliver Dorr, who swims in the boys 11-12 division. Oliver came in first place in four separate events, the 50m butterfly, the 50m backstroke, the 100m individual medley, and the 100 freestyle. Two other swimmers won three individual races on the day; Ruari Mullin (9-10) won the 50m freestyle, 50m backstroke, and 100m freestyle, and Evan Sauter (13-14) won the 50m freestyle, 50m backstroke, and 100m freestyle. For the girls, Renee Goodale won the 100m individual medley and the 50m breaststroke while competing in the 15-and-over division.
