Mezzo-soprano Lia Kahler will sing at the Chilmark Community Church on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 3 pm, in a concert featuring solos by her pianist, Richard Gordon, and organist, Philip Dietterich. In 1993, Ms. Kahler began a series of fundraising Catalyst Concerts with the goal of raising $200,000 for charities before she retires. To date, she has raised more than $150,000, including $78,000 for Vineyard causes. The proceeds of the Spirit Song concert will help repair the cross and steeple of the 19th century Chilmark Church, which were damaged by Hurricane Sandy. A silent auction will open at 2 pm, and continue during the intermission and reception following the concert. Tickets are $15 general admission, and $10 for seniors and students.
