Edgartown selectmen waste no time

Edgartown selectmen may have set a new record for brevity at their Monday meeting. It was over almost before it was scheduled to begin.

Chairman Michael Donaroma called the meeting to order at 3:57 pm, a few minutes early, and the board voted on several routine permit applications.

At 4 pm, the board opened a public hearing on NSTAR’s plan to lay 30 feet of underground cable for electric service to a building at 6 South Water Street. Without opposition, selectmen approved the plan.

Administrative assistant Kristy Rose relayed a message from police Chief Tony Bettencourt reminding residents that Saturday is prom night. He said prom activities will occupy some parking spaces in front of the Atlantic Fish and Chop House, as well as the Harbor View Hotel, during the evening hours.

The board adjourned at 4:03 pm.

“I tried to stretch it out as long as I could,” Mr. Donaroma said.
