Antiques and fleas in Chilmark
The first sign of spring in Chilmark is the Antiques and Flea Market at the Chilmark Community Center on South Road this Saturday, May 19. Island artisans and antique dealers will display their wares. Chowder, sandwiches, and baked goods will be available. The fun begins at 9:30 am and ends at 2 pm.
Landlord-tenant law workshop
The Martha's Vineyard Mediation Program will conduct a workshop on landlord-tenant law on Friday, May 18, from 10 am to noon at the Edgartown Town Hall meeting room.
Vineyard attorney Erik Hammarlund and Edgartown health agent Matt Poole will present an overview of current Massachusetts laws governing Landlord-Tenant residential rentals. The free workshop is open to the public.
Ron Walsh is on watch
Ron Walsh of Edgartown was recently certified as a Qualified Communications Watchstander at US Coast Guard Station Menemsha.
Watchstanders monitor several Coast Guard radio channels for distress calls in the local CG area of responsibility and dispatch CG search and rescue vessels. Mr. Walsh is a member of the Martha's Vineyard Coast Guard Auxiliary chapter and is also qualified as an Auxiliary Vessel Examiner.
The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary covers watchstander duty to free Coast Guard personnel for other business.
