Julian S. (Corky) Goralski Jr. died unexpectedly at his home in Edgartown on Wednesday, May 23, at the age of 68.

Born in Greenfield on February 6, 1944, he was the only child of Julian Sr. and Anna Goralski, formerly of N. Silver Lane in Sunderland. Julian attended Frontier Regional High School, graduating in 1963, and then attending trade school in Springfield.

Julian was the loving husband of Carolyn (Candy Putnam) Goralski from the day they married in June 1966 until her death in 1995. They resided primarily in Bernardston. The couple had no children.

Julian worked at UMass Amherst, New Art Plastic Greenfield, and for 25 years (1975-2000) as a restoration carpenter for Historic Deerfield. Julian retired in 2000 and relocated to Martha’s Vineyard where he enjoyed many years of fishing, clamming, boating, gardening and walking. He also enjoyed motorcycling, antique cars, bird carving, and fly fishing. He loved his home on the Island.

Julian is survived by his sister-in-law, Elizabeth Demski, of Sudbury, and his beloved nieces Molly Wilson of Groton, Conn., and Claire Councilman, also of Sudbury, and godchildren Kristina Hurlburt-Porter of Largo, Fla., and Scott Hurlburt of Tampa, Fla., and by friends and kind neighbors.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, May 30, from 8:30 to 9:30 am at the Wrisley Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 10 am at the Holy Family Catholic Church, both on Sugarloaf St. in South Deerfield. Julian will be buried in the Saint Stanislaus Cemetery in South Deerfield.

A memorial service on Martha’s Vineyard will be held later in June.
