The Suns recovered from an opening game shocker last week to even the RCBL final series at one game apiece with a 91-61 drubbing of the Lakers Monday night in Edgartown. The teams will meet next Monday, March 25, at the Boys and Girls Club for a decisive game three. Tip off is at 6:15 pm.

The Suns (14-2) blew open a close game by dominating 31-10 in the second quarter. The Lakers (10-7) simply couldn’t hit the ocean from the beach.

Neither team could shoot in an offensively challenged third period. The teams combined for eight points in the first six minutes. The Suns eked out a 15-11 advantage by the end and led 65-41 heading into the anti-climatic fourth period. Last week, the Lakers rallied from 13 points down with one quarter to play. There would be no heroics on this night.

The game was fine entertainment at the start. The Lakers scored the first basket but trailed until the final minute of the first quarter. Lamar Moreis scored five straight points and gave the Lakers their final lead of the game at 20-19, with a three-point attempt that bounced off the rim and rolled into the cylinder.

From there, the Lakers’ shooting dried up and the Suns had too much Cash. Jade scored a game high 34 points and Asil totaled 26. Sterling Bishop had 15 points and Mike Baptiste drained a trio of treys.

Lamar Moreis led the Lakers with 14 points. Heath Estrella and James Rolston scored 10 each.
