Formed in 1998, the Island Affordable Housing Fund (IAHF) provides grants and loans to organizations, towns, developers, builders, or anyone with a proposal to create affordable year-round housing opportunities that satisfies our criteria. The US Slave Song Project is a 501 (c) 3 Federal and State tax-exempt nonprofit organization. Sail Martha's Vineyard is a non-profit organization dedicated to celebrating and protecting the island's maritime heritage. It was conceived in 1992 to offer free programs for island children in elementary sailing and seamanship, wooden boat building, and to attract historic vessels to the community. The organization has grown from 8 children, one instructor and one volunteer that first year, to one that has taught over 1,000 children, produced a successful high school varsity sailing team, and offers an expanded mission of maritime education, rowing, and sailing to young and old, seasonal and year round residents.

The MVCMA, well-known for its 315 Gingerbread cottages and historic Tabernacle, grew out of the religious camp-meeting movement of the 19th Century. The MVCMA has held religious services and a wide variety of special programs each summer since 1835.The first camp-meeting in Oak Bluffs was held in 1835 at which 65 people were converted and 6 souls reclaimed. The movement grew and in 1869, 30,000 persons visited the Campground. The unique character of the Campground has been preserved and treasured by cottage owners for over 170 years. In April of 2005, the MVCMA was designated a national historic landmark.

The Polly Hill Arboretum, a Martha's Vineyard horticultural and botanical landmark, was developed by the legendary horticulturist, Polly Hill (1907-2007). Here in 1958, Polly began an arboretum by sowing a seed, eventually bringing 20 acres under cultivation while preserving 40 additional acres as native woodland. Established in 1997 as a not-for-profit institution, the Arboretum is devoted to the cultivation and study of plants and the preservation of the character and magic of this tranquil landscape.
