Dick Brown, 95, received the Alumnus of the Year award for 2011 from his alma mater, Mass. Maritime Academy. The award is given to a graduate who has achieved exellence in his or her career pursuits.
A 1931 graduate, Dick is an expert in the operation and maintenace of ship steam engines, and he has sailed just about every sea and ocean in the world. Dick and Carolyn, his wife, live in Oak Bluffs.
Dick was the Academy’s guest of honor on Saturday, September 17, at their football game in Buzzard’s Bay. Dick and his family were an important part of the game’s half-time festivities.
