At the Edgartown Bridge Club at the American Legion on Monday, October 28, 12 pairs competed. Placing first overall with a 71 percent game were Mollie Whalen and Joe Ashcroft. Second place went to Marianne Goldsmith and Art Spielvogel, followed by Eric Stricoff and Rhonda Cohen in third and Anita Persson and Ency Fokos in fourth.
On Monday, November 4, at the Edgartown Yacht Club, 11 pairs competed. Placing first overall were Mollie Whalen and Joe Ashcroft, followed by Diana Dozier and Gerry Averill in second. Tied for third and fourth places were Bea Phear and Helen Colvin and Kevin Carey and Carolyn Flynn.
At the Martha’s Vineyard Bridge Club in Vineyard Haven on November 5, eight pairs competed in a club championship. First place overall went to Eric Stricoff and Rhonda Cohen. Placing second were Joe Ashcroft and Mollie Whalen, and Bill Blakesley and Cecily Greenaway finished third.
At the Island Bridge Club in West Tisbury on November 7, six pairs competed. Tied for first and second place were Anita Persson and Foster Greene and Bea Phear and Cecily Greenaway.
Goodbye to Mollie and Joe for the winter.
