Favorite Island winter event: “I think my favorite winter event is the Chili Contest [Oak Bluffs, last weekend in January]. Even though I’m a vegetarian who doesn’t like chili, I do like flannels and drinking during the day.”
This year, unlike most other years, I’ve decided to get my holiday shopping done earlier rather than later. I have always loved supporting local businesses and I think that doing my Christmas shopping on-Island is one of the best ways to do this. I embarked on my journey one Saturday, and thanks to the radio station 101.5, I was able to get into the holiday spirit with Christmas carols. I have lived on the Island for five winters and each season I love to make my way home to my small hometown in New Hampshire bearing specialty Island gifts. My family and friends love them! Here are some of the presents I found and can’t wait to give them — hopefully they don’t get their hands on a copy of this and ruin the surprise…
