The two-year reign as MIAA Division 3 state champions is over for the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School boys tennis team.
The two-time defending champion and second seeded Vineyarders lost to third seeded Cohasset 4-1 in the South Sectional semifinals Wednesday at the Falmouth Sports Center. The Skippers have been a perennial thorn in the side of the Vineyard girls team for the past three seasons, eliminating M.V. each year. Now, they have eliminated the boys.
The Vineyarders, who shared the Eastern Athletic Conference title with Bishop Feehan, finished the season 15-2. Cohasset improved to 18-2 and will meet Pope John Paul II of Hyannis in the sectional final on June 6.
