Former MVRHS baseball player and 2008 graduate Kendall Chaves got a chance of a lifetime after being selected to play in the Yawkey League All-Star game, played at Fenway Park on September 29.
Kendall is in his second year playing for the Malden Maddogs of the Yawkey League, the largest Boston area Adult Amateur baseball league. He is a pitcher and ended the season with a record of 6-1 with two saves and a 1.88 ERA.
In the game at Fenway, pitchers on each All-Star roster were scheduled to pitch one inning. Kendall struck out one batter and gave up two hits in his appearance. Kendall graduated from Babson College in 2012 and currently works at a software company in Chelmsford. He played two years on the varsity team at Babson prior to succumbing to a shoulder injury. He played his remaining two years with the club baseball team at Babson, where he is now the head coach.
