During a week of fundraising to celebrate philanthropy, the Tisbury School Tigers collected almost $3,000 for the Red Stocking Fund, which distributes clothing, toys, and food to needy children and families.

“Tigers Give!” was the theme from Dec. 8 to 12. Every student was encouraged to wear red all week. The lower grades were asked to bring in designated coins or bills each day: pennies on Monday, nickels on Tuesday, and so on, culminating with $1 bills on Friday. Meanwhile, the upper grades had penny wars and raised their own bucketfuls of change.  The raffle of a stunning gingerbread house made by first graders with the help of Denise Lambos raised more than $200. Tisbury students also collected a box full of new toys. A check was presented to Leslie Frizzell of the Red Stocking Fund. The final amount was $2,946.
