The West Tisbury board of assessors has completed its triennial revaluation of all real estate and personal property in West Tisbury for fiscal year 2015. This total revaluation is a process mandated by the Massachusetts Department of Revenue (DOR) every three years for all communities in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. DOR procedures require a full re-evaluation of all data, recent sales, current rents, and construction cost tables used in the generation of the community’s assessed values, using an effective assessment date of Jan. 1, 2014, according to a press release. The board has submitted the updated data as of Jan. 22, 2015, to the Department of Revenue, and has been granted preliminary approval for the new property values.
The board of assessors has mailed notice of the new proposed values to each taxpayer in West Tisbury, and they are available for review at westtisbury-ma.gov/Boards/assessors.html.
These valuations are pending final certification approval by the Massachusetts Department of Revenue and are subject to change. The public review will run from Monday, March 9 to Friday, March 13.
The goal is to value properties as equitably and consistently as possible, said the board of assessors in a press release. Property owners are asked to review their information. Property owners with questions may visit the assessors office located on the third floor at Town Hall on State Road. Office hours are 9:30 am to 4 pm, Monday through Friday.
