To the Editor:
I am writing concerning the eight-house development that will be built behind the beautiful Civil War–era house at the top of Spring Street. I am against the development of that land. I feel it will not only ruin the character of the whole neighborhood, but that of all the streets surrounding it. This project will most definitely make for worse traffic congestion. That is not good, and especially not a good thing near an elementary school. I am in favor of keeping the area green as a public park for the people of Vineyard Haven. Keeping the 100- to 150-year-old trees, and especially oak trees, in fact is of the utmost importance.
