Flatbread will host an event on June 30 to support the Beatrice Bennett Great Aspirations Memorial Scholarship fund (BBGAMS).
Beatrice “Beach” Bennett passed away early last fall from cancer. Beach’s daughter, Bella, started BBGAMS with the intention of carrying on Beach’s legacy, and, according to a press release, “offering a helping hand to those with a hope, dream, or goal, as Beach was famous for both helping people realize their goals and achieve them.”
Scholarships will benefit not only college-bound graduates, but also graduates who aspire to participate in a nonprofit organization or program, such as a NOLS or Outward Bound course. This was the first year of the scholarship, and BBGAMS has granted two scholarships, for $1,000 dollars each, to two graduates of Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School.
The event will feature a silent auction, and Flatbread will donate 10 percent of the price of every pizza purchased directly to the scholarship fund, which will then be granted as scholarships to graduates of the Regional High School (MVRHS) and The Charter School.
For those who cannot attend but would like to help, donations can be made to the fund through the Permanent Endowment, via check. Please specify the “Beatrice Bennett Fund” in the memo, and send checks to Permanent Endowment for Martha’s Vineyard, P.O. Box 1182, Oak Bluffs, MA 02557.
