To the Editor:

The Girl Scout troops of Martha’s Vineyard would like to sincerely thank our wonderful Island community for supporting the sales of our Girl Scout cookies this year. As the Girl Scouts’ website states, “Buying Girl Scout Cookies is about so much more than just handing over money for a box of treats. It’s about the skills a girl gains from interacting with customers, the experience of running her very own cookie business and working with others — learning important lifelong lessons along the way.” Proceeds of cookie sales can go toward troop activities that include camping excursions and field trips, donations toward specific causes, and/or community outreach, which are all decided upon by the Girl Scout troop members.

Specifically, we would like to take this opportunity to thank the very gracious members and organizations from our Island community that truly supported us in our cookie sales by allowing us to hold booth sales at the following locations: Alley’s General Store, Cash N’ Carry, Cronig’s Market Up- and Down-Island, Grace Episcopal Church during Friday night Lobster Rolls, Martha’s Vineyard Ice Arena, Reliable Market, Stop and Shop in Edgartown, and the town of Tisbury selectmen and the town of Tisbury Memorial Day Picnic Committee. A very special thank-you goes out to Larry Gomez of the Greenwood House and Tisbury selectman, for buying several cases from us and spreading Girl Scout cookie joy all throughout the shops and streets of Vineyard Haven.

We hope everyone enjoyed their cookies!
