On Saturday, Nicki Masseur, 7, and sister Diana Masseur, 10, set up a stand on North Road in front of their grandfather’s house to sell homemade baked goods, fruit salad, and cold drinks to raise funds for the Gay Head Lighthouse. The girls sold items to people passing by in cars, on bikes and scooters, and to walkers.

In total, they raised $142, all of which they donated to the Gay Head Lighthouse Committee, which is working to close a $125,000 fundraising gap prior to turning on the lighthouse lamp for the first time in its new location.

Unexpected environmental issues added an unforeseen $400,000 in additional costs to the $3 million fundraising goal. The lighthouse move was successfully completed last month. For more information, go to gayheadlight.org.
