The swimming finals for the Bay State Games were held on July 11 and 12 at Harvard’s Blodgett Pool, home of the Harvard swimming and diving teams. The Bay State Games are a statewide Olympic-style event held annually in Massachusetts. Student athletes can qualify to compete in one of 17 sports, including swimming.
Five Vineyard swimmers qualified for the games, and competed on the South East/Coastal team against two other Massachusetts regions. Each swimmer ended in the top 10 for at least one of his or her events.
Gabby Carr (200m free, 100m free, 200m individual medley), Oliver Dorr (100m backstroke, 100m butterfly) and Evan Sauter (100m backstroke, 200m backstroke) placed in the top eight, and qualified for the final round.
Gabby Carr placed fourth in the state for her 200-meter freestyle, and Oliver Dorr placed fourth in the state in the 100-meter backstroke.

Evan Sauter: 100m backstroke, 8th; 50m freestyle, 9th; 100m freestyle, 9th; 200m backstroke, 8th.
Ben Yancey: 100m breaststroke, 10th; 100m butterfly, 9th; 50m freestyle, 13th.
