Vineyard girls are summer basketball league champs

The Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School girls basketball team won the Hyannis Summer League Championships on Wednesday night, August 12, beating Sandwich in the championship game 37-27.

The Island girls played every Wednesday for the past two months at the Hyannis Youth and Community Center. The girls went 6-2 over the summer, coming in in first place. They defeated Barnstable in the semifinal on August 5 to advance to play Sandwich.
