The Mama’s Girls repeated as Martha’s Vineyard Women’s Softball League champions Tuesday night, sweeping the Honeys 3-2 and 19-9 to win the double-elimination tournament.
In game one, the Mama’s scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to overturn a 2-0 Honeys lead. With each team now having one loss in the tourney, an extra game was necessary.
The Honeys raced out to an 8-3 lead in game two but the Mama’s scored 12 runs in the fourth to seize control of the game. Jillian “Chief” Sedlier pitched both games for the Mama’s, scoring the winning run in game one and driving a homer to left in game two.
The Mama’s finished the season 14-2; the Honeys were 8-6.
