Up the stakes

To the Editor:

For the Wampanoag tribe to make money on bingo means lots of people need to be playing, and if the recent estimate of upwards of $300,000 per month is remotely correct, it sounds like thousands of people will be traveling up to Aquinnah constantly. Hard to imagine.

Instead of high-traffic bingo gaming, why not consider low-traffic, unlimited-stakes poker? Let a few gamblers come from around the world and gamble for unlimited stakes. It could bring in a high revenue to the tribe and no substantial additional traffic to the Island. Just a thought.
