Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Martha’s Vineyard hosted its M.V. Big Golf Fore Kids tournament on Sunday, Oct. 4, at Mink Meadows Golf Club In Vineyard Haven. The blustery weather added to the competitive spirit of the day as golfers took to the Mink Meadows course following coffee and breakfast.
Winners this year, and recipients of the Howard W. Leonard memorial trophy, were the team of J.C. Murphy, Bruce Stone, Lenny Vanderhoop, and John Rancourt, with a score of 63.75. Close behind was the second-place team of Tabor Caron, Lizzie Williamson, Christopher Mayhew, and Zak Danz, with a score of 64. The third-place team of Brad Simpkins, Finn Simpkins, and Dan McCarthy closed the day with a nearly identical score of 64.37. Winners for closest to the pin were John Rancourt and Kaitlyn Marchand.
Big Brothers Big Sisters depends on the generosity of others, and organizers said the outstanding community pitched in to make it a memorable event.
