This weekend the Martha’s Vineyard Museum opens its latest exhibit, “Made with Clay: Pottery for Use and Beauty.” The display showcases items from the museum’s collection that are often overlooked or hidden away. The wares of the potter — pitchers, dishes, vases, jugs, cups, and tiles — will be on exhibit, along with photographs and stories of and by their makers. The oldest was made 700 years ago. The newest is only about 35 years old. They range from utilitarian to “just for show.” “Made with Clay” will open on Friday, Oct. 9, from 5 to 7pm, in the Museum Galleries. Admission is free for members, and $8 for nonmembers. The exhibit will be up through March 2016.
